Xinao Iceland 70 Merino Wool 30 Alpaca Cone Yarn · 2/16Nm · China
This merino and alpaca blend from Xinao's Iceland line pairs the spring and stitch definition of fine merino with the warmth and soft drape of alpaca. Spun at 2/16Nm, it is a fine lace-weight two-ply, light enough for sheer, airy fabrics and easily held double or triple for heavier gauges. The alpaca lends a faint, soft halo to an otherwise smooth surface.
Offered here in 16529 Black, a deep, even black that gives knitted fabric a clean, graphic quality. It suits minimal layering pieces, fine-gauge sweaters, and designs where silhouette and texture carry the work rather than color.
As an industrial surplus yarn, this cone provides consistency in spinning quality while maintaining flexibility for creative development. Merino brings elasticity and memory, alpaca adds warmth without bulk, and the blend softens and blooms after its first wash.

Important Notes
• The alpaca content gives this yarn a light halo; expect some shedding during knitting and the first few washes
• Brief freezing of the cone or finished piece can reduce shedding; a lint roller is recommended for dark garments and surfaces
• Cone yarn may carry a light spinning oil or finishing agent; the fabric blooms and softens after a gentle wash
• Alpaca has less elasticity than wool; swatch and wash the swatch before finalizing gauge, and dry flat
• Wash dark colors separately for the first few washes
• For best results, swatch before production to test tension and fabric density
• Cone yarn is different from skein yarn and must always be swatched before knitting to evaluate shrinkage and gauge
• Please note that colors may vary slightly from screen to actual yarn depending on display settings
• At 2/16Nm, it can be held together with mohair, silk, or a second strand of merino to build weight and texture
• Some cones may be rewound onto empty cones without original mill labels
• May have mild outer dust or storage marks
• Sold as is, without retail packaging
• All yarns are 100% functional with no visible flaws or defects affecting usability
• Please note that cone yarn is wound in an industrial format
• In rare cases, internal breaks may not be visible from the outside of the cone
• Please allow approximately 5%–6% waste, which is standard for cone yarn handling
• In case of yarn breaks, pull away about 10 cm of yarn before rejoining and secure with a small cross-knot to reduce tension and avoid distortion in the knitted fabric

Note: All yarns sold here are authentic products made by the original mills, sourced as mill ends or unused surplus from knitwear factories. We are not affiliated with or authorized by the original brands. Packaging and cone appearance may vary from official retail versions, but the product quality remains excellent. This listing is part of a sustainable effort to reuse premium industrial materials that would otherwise go to waste — perfect for makers who value both quality and conscious sourcing.
